Your little one will bring this book to life as they mold and shape sweet-smelling dough into fantastical apple creations. By following a recipe, they’ll experience the magic of transformation, watching simple ingredients turn into something completely new. Using fine motor skills, they’ll recreate characters from the book and then invent their own apple creations, deepening their connection to the story through imaginative, hands-on play.

SET THE STAGE FOR PLAY: 10 Minutes

Adult Participation: Required

Ready

1 cup flour

¼ cup salt

1 tsp. cream of tartar

1 tsp. cinnamon

½ tbsp. vegetable oil

Red food coloring

1 cup water

Large Pot

Wooden spoon

Set

In a large pot, mix the dry ingredients.

Add the wet ingredients and stir.

Cook over medium heat, stirring until the dough pulls away from the edges.

Turn off the heat and let cool.

Knead the dough, adding flour if necessary, until smooth.
