Hunt for connection

Why play this way?

Similar to the narrator in Like, your little one will step into the world with curiosity and compassion, noticing how others, no matter how different they first appear, are actually like them in meaningful ways. This experience encourages children to look closely, think deeply, choose connection, celebrate common ground, and build empathy one discovery at a time.

Set

Head outside for a neighborhood walk, checklist and pencil in hand.

Play!

Look closely at the people, plants, and animals around you.

  • In what ways are you like what you see?
  • How are you different?

Find something alive that doesn’t seem like you at all.

  • Can you name one thing you have in common?

Use your checklist to look for people, animals, and objects that are like you in some way. Each time you find a match, check it off!

Repeat your walk on different days and in different locations.

  • Print a blank chart and draw in what you see and connect with!

associated activities are amazing!
"They not only help my grandson see the relationship between an exciting subject and the real-world principles involved, but they also strongly personalize the experience for him. He learns that reading is fun, and that learning satisfies his natural curiosity."

Looking forward to gifting these again!
"I have always gifted books at birthdays and these felt like a natural extension of the gifts I already give. It's nice to also be able to give my friends something that comes with additional activities they may not have thought to do."
