Why play this way?
In My GrandMom, Gee-eun and her grandmother share love & laughter through cooking. This activity brings their special tradition to life as your little one shapes their own playful (pretend) kalguksu. Kneading, rolling, and shaping the playdough strengthen fine motor skills while sparking creativity and encouraging storytelling. As they create characters and adventures in their “noodle soup,” they’ll explore the joy of shared meals, connection, and traditions—just like Gee-eun and her grandma.

Turn to the pages of the book where Gee-eun & her grandma roll and shape the dough for kalguksu (Korean for “knife noodles”).
Think about the characters you want to create and play with in your noodle soup.

Play!
Knead, roll, squish, and pinch the dough to create your characters.
Make kalguksu noodles by rolling the dough flat and cutting long strips with your knife.
Place the characters and noodles in a soup bowl and play your way!
